Harbour Festival.... Bristol

Hiya blog readers, so today I've decided to blog about my day today!!!

So today, me and my friends decided to go to the Harbour Festival in Bristolll!!!!! (Very passionate about my home town). This festival happens every year, rain or shine!!!
Bristol Harbour Festival is one of the UK's largest public festivals and a chance for the city to showcase its rich musical and performance roots. Over 250,000 festival fans head down to the 2 mile stretch along Bristol's waterfront to party, dance and relax.
So me and my friends decided to embrace the festival, sitting out by the harbour in the glistening sunshine (and the odd shower) enjoying a cold pint of cider.
At the moment there are a few Gromits placed around the city and there are a few placed at the Harbourside so we went on a small Gromit hunt to collect the ones we haven't seen yet!!!

My kinda food!!!

Show us your NAILZ

This season nail trends have been Hot Hot Hot!!! and it's a trend that I've have kept with. For me my nails are my Biggest accessory. Here are some of my favourite and the hottest nails trends!!!!

Candy Coloured Nails: These are my nails currently, I'm wearing Blueberry and Dragon by Barry M!! Candy colour's are girly and cute and I love them!!!!!

20130726_165431.jpg

Caviar nails: I loved this when i first saw it! But it's totally impractical, I kept finding the little beads everywhere, I would defiantly wear them for a night out and then take them out the next day. But they do look gorgeous. If your going to recreate this looks, remember just to place the caviar beads on the ring finger, on each hand.

Such a gorgeous look.

Leather effect: Another trend I've LOVED, is the leather effect. For this trend I've mainly used Nails Inc polish, but if you want a cheaper alternative Barry M do a similar effect called Nail Texture. This gives your nails a edgy rock look.

Glitter: I've been rocking the glitter look for a while, and it's probably my favourite nail look. I love having sparkly and girly nails and also get compliments on them. Only problem they take bloody ages to get out, I spend about half an hour doing one hand!

Crackling: This is a old school nail look. I can remember doing this look about 2 years ago. But it always seems to get peoples attention, they're always intrigued by it and ask how it's done. Such a simple but effective look!!!

Feather: I've only just come across this look, I randomly picked up a Barry M feather effect nail polish and I was impressed!!!

Let me know your fave nail trends,
Leave me a comment and your blog name and I'll give you a follow
Thanks

Everything has changed...

Taylor Swift seems to becoming the soundtrack to my life....

Everything has (nearly) changed in my life..... This is my last week of freedom, before I start my life of full time employment. I've said before it's not the dream job, but it's a job and i'm still working towards my dream job. Even so I'm excited about starting and meeting new people. I'm such a people's person love meeting new people and get on with 99% of people I meet.
I've left my student title behind as I've now graduated which is odd, not going back to Bath in September is going to be weird.
This time next year I would love to be living in London, working with a radio company. I feel presenting is my calling. Finger cross and pray to the big man in the sky!!!

The big wide world awaits me

Essential wardrobe must haves!!!!!!!!

For us girls, we need essentials and especially within our wardrobes, I have put together a list of must haves. With this in my wardrobe I would be lost. Check it out and let me know your wardrobe must haves

1 . A plain white tee!!!
The plain white tee is the fashion equivalent of salt (Yes i'm comparing clothing items to food condiments); it goes with everything and makes it a hell of a lot better. You can wear it with everything (the tee not the salt) blazers, short shorts, tucked into a high waisted skirt etc.... (you get the idea).

2. Black Leggings
Black leggings are a life essential, but girls PLEASE wear with a oversize jumper or under a dress. We don't want to see your undies (say NO to see through leggings). Leggings are great if you are conscious about your legs but still want to wear that pretty short dress.

3. Ballet flats
Ballet flats are chicer than trainers but more comfortable than heels. Ballet flats are cute, girly and essential everyday wear.

I own these exact ballet flats. They are from Dune, LOVE THEM

4. Classic pumps
Every girl should have a classic pump in there wardrobe. They are a item you should stock up on. They're a great basic, goes-with-everything pair of heels and something you will wear to death.

5. LBD (little black dress)
If you have nothing on this list in your wardrobe, make sure you go out and buy a LBD and when you find the perfect one...... Buy two. I have a few LBD but my favourite one is the peplum, defiantly worth the pennies girls.

Cara Delevingne in her LBD. Fave model at the moment. She has so much sass!

White Blouse
I live in my white blouse, and nothing says ' I have my act together' like a crisp white shirt. I particularly like the blouse which have a bit of collar detail, like my own white blouse below.

My Blouse from Topshop!! With collar detailing

Black trousers
One the weekend you can go rock 'n' roll with a pair of skinny black trousers then during the weeks they are totally office wear. If you need another reason to pick up a pair..... they're also slimming.
Rock 'n' Roll

Smart and chic for the office

Dark Denim
Dark denim is effortless and timeless and dark pair of jeans can do wonders for any woman's wardrobe. Even Kate Middleton likes to rock out in a pair of dark denim jean. Make sure you choose the correct silhouette, so it flatters your shape.

Much Love

I've done it!

I'm now officially Katie Johnson BA Hons in Media Communications. I'm a media graduate!!!

So yesterday (Saturday the 20th of July) I graduated from Bath Spa Univeristy, my graduation ceremony was held at Batn Abbey and was an amazing day to celebrate the last 3 years of hard work and our achievements!!!
I'm going to miss it so much from the 99p Jäger Bombs at Club XL, to having picnics outside the Royal Crescent, the beautiful city of Bath  and to people telling me how much they love my accent (I got that 'compliment' a lot). But I'm going to miss the incredible friends I've made on this journey without them I wouldn't of got through uni, phoning them when I'm stressed, making sure I have enough reference and double checking what the term psychoanalysis meant in feminism (we all struggled with that LOL). I know I've made friends for life and can't wait for our meet up in a few weeks.
I loved my time at spa and recommend going to Univeristy it's a lot of hard work and partying, but totally worth it!!!!
Bath Spa WE GO HARD!!!!
Love my Spartans.

Beach hair!!

The sun is shining and we want a easy way to make your hair look like you've just stepped off the beach! So if you can't make it to a beach anytime soon, you can still get perfectly tousled waves AKA "beach hair", regardless of your hair type and with minimal effort !  Try one of these methods and you can be rocking the beach hair look.

Method 1- Salt Spray
Most people have a natural wave to their hair, and a good salt spray is fab for bringing that natural wave out. Salt sprays should do the job for most hair types, From thin and straight to thick and wavy. Salt Sprays also add boost to your hair (especially if your hair is like mine thin and straight) it also helps banish frizzy hair too!
creating beach waves is very simple. You should spray a little salt spray (and i mean a little, less is defiantly more, especially if you have really thick hair) onto wet or damp hair, cup some ends into your hands and scrunch up to the root. Let it dry naturally or use a diffuser and you're good to go and look like you've just stepped off the beach!
Warning- salt sprays can be pretty drying so it's not the best idea to use these everyday!!

Bumble and Bumble surf spray, £21.50 at
                                                                       www.BumbleandBumble.co.uk

Method 2- Barrel curling Iron
3 Barrel curling irons can also create the beach hair look! Before using the curling irons make sure you are using a heat protector, so your hair doesn't  get damage.
Barrel curing irons are super easy to use- you need to separate your hair (dry) into sections, spraying heat protection as you go, starting from your root clamp down your curling iron and hold for a couple of seconds, move your curling iron down the section of hair, and repeat. Finish off the look with a holding spray. Again you've created the beach hair look!!!

BaByliss Pro Triple Barrel Waver - Hot Pink
Babyliss Pro Triple Barrell Waver

These are methods that I have tried and tested and products I use, let me know how you create the beach hair look and if you use different methods!!!
